Giant Panda Magic Moment

This experience is only available for adults aged 16+. 

We are excited to be able to offer an incredibly limited number of opportunities for RZSS members, patrons and giant panda adopters to feed giant panda Yang Guang before he returns to China.  

After building strong bonds with his keepers over the last 11 years and settling into the specially-designed enclosure at the top of the hill, Yang Guang has been in training to get to know more of his fans! 

Get closer than you ever imagined with our 30-minute Panda Magic Moment to meet one of our resident giant pandas. With this Magic Moment you’ll go behind-the-scenes and help our keepers feed Yang Guang a special treat.  

You’ll also learn all about this beloved species from the people that know them best, our expert keepers.  

Please note: Panda Magic Moments are very limited and only run on Sundays and Wednesdays. They must be booked at least five days' in advance by emailing pandaexperiences@rzss.org.uk after purchasing this voucher. 

Our dedicated panda keepers have developed wonderful relationships with our giant pandas who can both choose how and where they spend their time. Different animals have different personalities and Tian Tian has always been more reserved than our male giant panda Yang Guang, who enjoys interacting with people more, which is why these experiences are so limited. 

Everyone will need to follow the guidance of our expert team who will always prioritise everyone’s safety and animal welfare. 

A giant farewell 

Our charity is giving Yang Guang and Tian Tian a giant farewell in 2023 as we work with colleagues at the China Wildlife Conservation Association to plan their return to China later in the year.  

This experience is part of a series of activities planned to give as many people as possible the chance to say goodbye, celebrate the incredible impact these two charismatic bears have had on our communities and help to reverse the decline of at least 50 species by 2030.

Over the past decade, our dedicated panda keepers have developed wonderful relationships with Yang Guang and Tian Tian who can both choose how and where they spend their time – please follow the guidance of our expert team who will always prioritise everyone’s safety and animal welfare.

Essential information: 

• Vouchers will have a six-month expiry date and must be booked within one month of receiving your voucher 
• Maximum two people per experience (please note one voucher is required per person) 
• This is a 30-minute experience 

• Price is per person. Entry to Edinburgh Zoo is included within the price of the Magic Moment 
• Experiences are strictly non-refundable 
• After purchasing the experience voucher, you will be sent details of how to book a date 
• All orders are sent as an e-voucher – this reduces our paper use and contributes to the conservation of our environment. We aim to send out all e-vouchers within three working days

Sadly, our Magic Moments are not suitable for certain guests, including those with any relevant phobias or known allergies, pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals. Every effort will be made to accommodate additional needs, but due to practicality and health and safety this may not always be possible.
