Experience a wild adventure with our Close Encounters Magic Moment! Spend 30 minutes up close with some of the zoo's most unique creatures, including snakes, stick insects and invertebrates. Our keeper will introduce you to these fascinating animals, making it a perfect experience for reptile and bug enthusiasts. Get ready for some exciting close encounters as you have the opportunity for some hands-on animal handling.

Please note, if you are looking for a specific date for your experience, contact us before purchasing any vouchers. We require at least seven days' notice for any bookings.

Essential information:
  • Vouchers have a one year expiry date unless stated otherwise. We advise enquiring for specific dates as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
  • The maximum number of participants for this experience is five.
  • We run the Close Encounters Magic Moment every day at 9am and 4pm (3pm in the winter months), dependant on availability. 
  • This experience lasts around thirty minutes.
  • Price is per person and includes the participant's admission to Edinburgh Zoo.
  • Keeper Experience vouchers are strictly non-refundable.
  • All orders are issued as e-vouchers, aligning with our commitment to reduce paper usage and aid environmental conservation. We aim to dispatch all e-vouchers within two business days.
    Your e-voucher includes instructions on how to book your Keeper Experience.
Restrictions:
  • This experience is available for participants aged 5 and over only.
  • Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an observing adult who will be required to pay adult admission cost.
  • Please note the accompanying adult may be required to go behind the scenes during the experience with the participant and it is therefore not suitable for the accompanying adult to be supervising another non-participating child.


Regrettably, our Keeper Experiences are not suitable for certain guests including those with any relevant phobias or known allergies; pregnant women; and immunocompromised individuals. Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this may not always be possible.
